The Ghostly Monks of Stanway

Stanway House was originally part of the estate of Tewkesbury Abbey, and monks are said to have farmed this land for centuries before the Dissolution. Locals report seeing hooded figures walking silently through the grounds at dusk, particularly near the tithe barn and the old gatehouse. The barn itself dates from the 14th century and would have stored the abbey's share of the local harvest. Whether the sightings are tricks of the fading Cotswold light or something more, the atmosphere at Stanway in the evening is undeniably atmospheric.
