After Henry VIII died in 1547, Katherine Parr married Thomas Seymour and moved to Sudeley Castle. She died there in 1548, just days after giving birth to her daughter Mary. She was buried in the castle chapel, but her tomb was lost for centuries after the castle was damaged in the Civil War. In 1782, her coffin was accidentally rediscovered by a local man. The castle has been beautifully restored and Katherine's tomb can still be visited in St Mary's Church within the grounds, making it the only private dwelling in England where a queen is buried.
